The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding to their secondary — signing the son of their former seventh-round draft pick Daryl Porter.

On Monday, KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson reported the Steelers were signing Miami Hurricanes standout DB Daryl Porter Jr. following a successful workout — one that also included former first-rounder C.J. Henderson.

At the start of his collegiate career, Porter Jr. spent two seasons with West Virginia before transferring to the University of Miami (FL). As a Hurricane, the young cornerback became the starting defensive back in 2023 — and led the team with seven pass breakups in 2024.

Porter Jr. signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft — but was waived on July 28.

The Steelers love their players with family ties — and Porter Jr. will have every opportunity to make a name for himself in Latrobe and the Steelers’ upcoming preseason matchups, kicking off on August 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
