Cardinals Rookie Will Johnson Hyped for ‘Dominant’ Potential at Arizona Training Camp originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Arizona Cardinals took what some classified as a “gamble” on former Michigan star cornerback Will Johnson with the No. 47 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Johnson slipped to the second round of the draft over concerns about knee issues that he insisted were not as big of a deal as teams thought.
So far, the former projected top five NFL draft pick has been making waves with his stellar play in camp, matching up against talented opposition including former Ohio State Buckeyes rival Marvin Harrison, Jr.
Lately, Johnson has gotten two prognostications from NFL writers about his exciting potential at the NFL level, with descriptive words being used to highlight what he is capable of as a professional.

“Things have looked way too easy for Will Johnson in his first camp,” reporter Ryan Fowler wrote on X. “Excited to see just how special he can be for that Cardinals secondary as a dominant type of corner when healthy.”
Previously, NFL.com’s Gennaro Felice wrote about the immense potential possessed by the Wolverines’ National Champion.
“A highly pedigreed cover man with prototypical size and a mature game, the Michigan product projects as a Day 1 starter in Arizona,” Felice wrote. “And his instinctive ball-hawking feels like a perfect fit in the Cardinals’ zone-heavy defense.”

Head coach Jonathan Gannon is expected to start Johnson at the left cornerback position opposite Max Melton should he continue his exceptional play during the preseason schedule and the rest of training camp.
With the Cardinals’ franchise in desperate need of more playmakers, Johnson has a chance to become the leader and superstar he was in Ann Arbor, Michigan, potentially vaulting himself into consideration for Rookie of the Year honors if he can play up to his college potential.
