In April, free agent safety Quandre Diggs spoke with Jim Wyatt about his cousin Cam Ward and how “incredible” it would be for the two to be able to play together in Nashville. At the time, Diggs was still rehabbing a Lisfranc fracture that ended his 2024 season, and he had no idea what the future would hold. 

On Tuesday, the Tennessee Titans welcomed Diggs back into the fold and will give the 10-year veteran a chance to make the dream of playing with Ward a reality. The coaching staff is familiar with Diggs, who started eight games for the Titans in 2024 after joining the team in August. He was playing at a high level when the injury hit, and finished the season with 42 tackles. 

Over his career, the former sixth-round pick of the Detroit Lions has recorded 622 tackles and 24 interceptions with the Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and the Titans. 

Not only will Diggs have to prove that he is healthy and fully recovered from the injury, but he will also be joining a crowded safety room in Nashville. The Titans signed Xavier Woods as a free agent and added Kevin Winston Jr. in the third round of the draft to fortify the back end of their defense. 

The move also comes on the heels of the Titans adding safety Joshuah Bledsoe earlier in the day, sparking speculation on social media about the status of the unit, specifically Winston, heading into the first preseason game. Winston is coming off a torn ACL, and left practice early on Sunday with soreness in his knee, although that was precautionary and part of a plan head coach Brian Callahan and the trainers put in place. 

To make room for Diggs and Bledsoe, the Titans released outside linebacker Titus Leo and safety Mark Perry.
