The Arizona Cardinals announced the signing of former Green Bay Packers third-round pick Josiah Deguara on Monday. The 94th overall pick in the 2020 draft spent four seasons with the Packers but played last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Deguara split time as a tight end, fullback and special teamer with the Packers but never materialized as an impact player despite being a Day 2 selection. He caught only 47 passes in 50 games with the Packers and wasn’t re-signed after his rookie deal expired following the 2023 season.

Last season in Jacksonville, Deguara appeared in 15 games for the Jaguars but caught only three passes. He wasn’t re-signed and was an unrestricted free agent.
Deguara’s role in the NFL now appears limited to special teams. He has played at least 200 special teams snaps in three straight seasons. Overall, Deguara has played more snaps on special teams than on offense since 2022. He made five tackles on special teams in 2024 and four in 2023.
Deguara turned 28 in February. He’ll compete with the likes of Elijah Higgins, Travis Vokolek and rookie Oscar Cardenas for a roster spot behind Trey McBride and Tip Reiman at tight end in Arizona.
The Packers face the Cardinals on the road during the 2025 regular season.
