HANFORD, Calif. (FOX26) — It’s a rebuilding year for a football program that lost just three games the last two years.

They replaced their quarterback and leading rusher, but returned top receiver Taveon Patterson.

He’ll catch passes from Clovis West transfer quarterback Jerren Mao, and although there’s a lot of change, one thing will stay the same — that’s the way Hanford plays.

“Regardless of when you watch Hanford football, I think we play fast, we play physical, but I mean, I think tempo is going to be, you know, still part of our identity,” said head football coach Cannon Sanchez.

“I like to catch them off guard,” said senior wide receiver Taveon Patterson. “Like as soon as we get there, they’re not expecting us to go as fast.”

“I mean, we have a lot of young talent,” said senior linebacker Justin Strickland. “It might take a little bit throughout the season for them to develop the right way, but I think by the end we’ll be perfect.”
