The Arizona Cardinals had free agent offensive lineman Will Hernandez in for a visit this week. They are expected to reach a deal for him to return to the team.

According to Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s John Gambadoro, both sides would like to get a deal done, and he expects a contract to be agreed upon soon.

Hernandez spent the last three seasons as the Cardinals’ starting right guard. He tore his ACL in Week 5 last season and only recently was medically cleared for football.

Since then, 2024 third-round pick Isaiah Adams has been moved into Hernandez’ old starting job. If Hernandez is re-signed, it does not mean that Adams will move to the bench.

In fact, since Hernandez has not participated in any training camp, Cards Wire’s Howard Balzer believes the Cardinals would start Hernandez on PUP, potentially having him start the season there, where he would have to miss the first four games, at least.

Hernandez would give the Cardinals proven starter-quality depth behind Adams and the Cardinals wouldn’t miss a beat should someone get hurt.
