GREEN BAY (WLUK) — We’re just over a month from the start of the Green Bay Packers season, but there’s still no timetable as to when wide receiver Christian Watson will return from injury.

“Based off what I’ve heard from other guys, I would definitely say I’m ahead of schedule,” Watson said.

The 4th-year pass-catcher tore his ACL in Week 18 last season, causing him to miss last year’s postseason game against the Eagles. But with his sights set on 2025, he’s on the right track to get back on the field.

“It’s been feeling really good so far. I haven’t had anything to deal with so far. It’s all just feeling really good. So I’m just praying that it stays that way. I’m able to go out there and keep attacking my rehab. But yeah, it’s been going real good,” said Watson.

Watson has missed at least two games in each of his first three seasons in the NFL — a carousel of injuries that’s helped build a backbone for a talented young receiver.

I’ve gone through a lot of adversity. Nothing like this, but I mean, I feel like I was calloused for it a little bit. I had the right mentality going into it. I’ve just been keeping that the whole way through.

“His spirit’s been great,” said fellow Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed. “He’s been a great teammate and he’s always kept a smile on his face, and I really commend him for that, because it’s not easy just watching every day.”

While he’s not on the field practicing, Watson dons the coaching hat from the sidelines. And with the high bar set for rookie receivers Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, any tips are good tips for these two talented pass-catchers.

“I mean, we’ve all seen it. They’re out there making plays. It’s really just the basics — making sure they know the details and stuff, how we go about our offense. Just the little nuances and stuff, but they’re gonna pick that up and be good to go,” Watson said.

Through all the noise, Watson is poised for a strong return.

“It’s been feeling good doing the route stuff I’ve been doing so far, and I’m just trying to get better each and every day,” he said.
