The Tennessee Titans enjoyed a day off on Monday, but that didn’t stop them from doing some internal housekeeping by releasing their first depth chart of the 2025 season.Â
For the most part, there weren’t many surprises. Players that many projected as starters have indeed been penciled into those roles. However, there are some interesting depth battles taking place that should make the upcoming joint practices and preseason games interesting to watch.
On offense, the depth chart went as expected, with the veterans (other than Cam Ward) holding down the starting roles and the young guys sitting behind them fighting for playing time. Rookie draft picks Gunnar Helm, Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike, and Kalel Mullings are all penciled in as part of the second unit.Â
Helm is sharing the second unit with David Martin-Robinson, with both clearly jumping Josh Whyle for the reserve tight end role. Mullings is sharing the spot with Tyjae Spears, ahead of veterans Julius Chestnut and Jordan Mims. Fifth-round pick Jackson Slater sits behind Blake Hance, third on the depth chart, but with Hance currently sidelined, he should have plenty of reps to work his way up.Â
Veteran Corey Levin is the starting center, with Sam Mustipher behind him, with Lloyd Cushenberry still on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.Â
On the defensive side of the ball, there were a couple of spots that may surprise some. James Williams was rewarded for his strong start to training camp and earned the starting spot next to Cody Barton heading into the first preseason game. Williams has been everywhere in his second training camp and deserves the shot. Otis Redd, who many projected to take that role next to Barton, is currently sitting on the second unit as Barton’s backup.Â
Timmy Horne, whom the Titans signed at the start of training camp, must have made an impression and is listed behind T’Vondre Sweat on the depth chart. With Sweat battling an abdominal injury, Horne should have a chance to continue making an impact with some extra reps this week.Â
Cornerback Gabe Jeudy-Lally is listed as the backup in the slot behind Roger McCreary and on the outside behind Darrell Baker, who is listed as the starter with L’Jarius Sneed on the PUP list. Rookie Marcus Harris is the other outside cornerback reserve behind Jarvis Brownlee.Â
If there was a surprise, it was on special teams, where Jha’Quan Jackson and James Proche are currently listed as the top return specialists, with rookie Chimere Dike listed on the second unit behind them. This is a battle to keep an eye on during the joint practices and the preseason games, with Xavier Restrepo and TJ Sheffield both in the mix.
Tennessee will hold one more padded practice open to the media on Wednesday before heading to Tampa for their first joint practice of 2025, leading into the preseason opener on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Â
