Around this time last year, Nate Davis of USA Today predicted the Green Bay Packers would go to the Super Bowl but lose to Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets to end the 2024 season. The prediction didn’t come true — the Packers lost in the first round of the NFC playoffs, and Rodgers’ Jets flamed out early — but Davis wasn’t scared off by the miss as he put together his 2025 predictions.

His vision for the Packers this season? A 12-5 finish, an NFC North title, the second seed in the NFC and a three-game postseason win streak to power a trip to the Super Bowl.

Here’s the Packers breakdown from Davis: “Unlike the rest of their divisional rivals, they should benefit from continuity. And if QB Jordan Love remains healthy, rookie Matthew Golden makes the consistent impact not always provided by this receiving corps and they get off to a strong start – and the early part of the schedule seems to set up nicely – the Pack might just find themselves in the Super Bowl.”

Davis picked the Packers to win the NFC North at 12-5, edging out the 11-6 Detroit Lions, before beating the Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams in the postseason to reach Super Bowl 60.

The downside? Davis has the Packers losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl.

The Packers haven’t won the NFC North since 2021 and haven’t been back to the Super Bowl since winning Super Bowl XLV during the 2010 season.

Predictions are just that — guesses. And Davis had the Packers wrong in 2023 (predicted a 7-10 record) and in 2024. But Davis’ Super Bowl pick does highlight the potential of Matt LaFleur’s team to be a real contender as the 2025 season approaches.

The Packers invested in weapons for Jordan Love, who is healthy after an inconsistent 2024 season. And Jeff Hafley’s defense is entering Year 2 in the system after an encouraging first year. Can the Packers put all the pieces together, get an excellent season from Love, stay healthy overall and get a little lucky in 2025? That’s usually what a Super Bowl run requires. It’s always difficult, but at least one national writer sees it as possible for LaFleur’s Packers.
