The Wisconsin Badgers have been through their first week of fall camp, with the pads coming on for the final few practices as they begin to ramp up ahead of the season.
Their season opener is just three weeks away at Camp Randall Stadium, where the Badgers will take on Miami (OH) on August 28th at 6:30 p.m. for a Thursday night game.
But first, they have several important weeks ahead of them to figure out their identity and calling cards ahead of the 2025 season. Who has stood out over the first week of fall camp so far?
If you’ve paid attention to any reporting at fall camp, you’d know that arguably the biggest star so far has been Mason Reiger, who has reportedly been wreaking havoc as a pass-rusher off the edge.
Reiger was sidelined for the entirety of spring ball with a lower-body injury after transferring in from Louisville, but Wisconsin had quite a bit of faith in the 6’4, 250-pound outside linebacker, expecting him to still play a meaningful role in 2025.
He’s showing exactly why the Badgers had that type of faith, and is looking to make an impact after missing the 2024 season due to injury.
Dilin Jones/Darrion Dupree
The Badgers running back room is one to watch in 2025, with redshirt freshmen Dilin Jones and Darrion Dupree being the leaders of the group.
Both four-star recruits in the Class of 2024, Jones and Dupree have each had their moments so far in fall camp, according to reports.
Jones was a standout on several lists on August 2nd, Wisconsin’s fourth practice of the fall, as he broke away for a 60-yard touchdown on a run.
Dupree, on the other hand, has been a regular standout, making plays throughout the last few practices of the fall, as he’s constantly gotten chunk yardage out of the backfield.
The duo should be one to watch this season as Wisconsin shifts to a more run-heavy approach.
The Missouri State transfer has been making waves during fall camp as a regular contributor in the tight end room.
Wisconsin dealt with some issues in the spring when Tanner Koziol transferred out just months after coming into the program. But, they quickly shifted to land Mason, getting an established tight end to lead the room in 2025.
So far, Mason has impressed with his work ethic and his play on the field, potentially providing some stability to a position where the Badgers haven’t gotten many returns over the last few years.
After a strong spring ball, Hilton has carried over his hype into fall camp, where he’s continued to make some impressive catches, showcasing his high potential.
Playing in a wide receiver room with some uncertainty, Hilton is looking to crack the rotation as a true freshman, which will ultimately come down to his consistency.
But, the 6’1, 205-pound freshman has been making a few splash plays, displaying strong hands and a good sense for the ball.
Wisconsin has some veterans in its wide receiver room, with Vinny Anthony and Jayden Ballard set to lead the group. Then, there’s Chris Brooks Jr. and Joseph Griffin, who played themselves into the top four on the perimeter back in the spring. But, Hilton is right there in the mix and is only continuing to improve.
