The New England Patriots and the Washington Commanders will meet for the 25th time in the preseason and for the second straight preseason, with New England holding a 15-9 advantage in the previous 24 contests. The only other teams the Patriots have played more in the preseason are the New York Giants with 31 and the Philadelphia Eagles with 25 preseason meetings.
The Patriots’ 15 preseason victories over Washington are their highest total over any preseason opponent, with the Patriots’ 14 victories over Philadelphia second.
The Patriots and Commanders closed out the 2024 preseason last year in Washington with the Commanders taking a 20-10 victory on Aug. 25. This week’s game will be Washington’s fourth visit to Gillette Stadium for a preseason game.
New England and Washington have met in the regular season 12 times with Washington holding a 7-5 advantage. The Commanders beat the Patriots, 20-17, in the last regular season meeting on Nov. 5, 2023 at Gillette Stadium.
