Pickens County high school coach reinstated after being placed on paid leave

A high school football coach in Pickens County, South Carolina, has been reinstated after he was placed on paid leave. He was placed on leave while the school district investigated a “very serious incident” that occurred during summer football camp.On July 30, the Pickens County School District announced that Daniel High School football coach, Chris Stone, was placed on administrative paid leave while the district conducted an investigation of the program as a whole. On Thursday, the Pickens County School District confirmed Stone will be reinstated on Saturday, Aug. 9. He will resume both his teaching and coaching responsibilities at that time. Chief Communications Officer Darian Byrd said, “We recognize the public interest surrounding this matter, but as this is a personnel issue, the district will not provide further comment. We respectfully ask that Coach Stone be allowed to return to his duties without disruption, as we focus on supporting students and staff at the start of the new school year.”
