Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes kept himself during this year’s NFL Draft.
He made a couple of trades up in order to land Isaac TeSlaa in the third round and Miles Frazier.
Those were far from the only trade talks he was involved in.

After the draft, he revealed that those were just two of the 30 attempts he made to get deals done.
We know one of those was to try and move up for an edge rusher in the first round.

It turns out the Lions also received a call about another potential trade in round one.
The Philadelphia Eagles recently released their second episode of “96 Hours Inside the Eagles Draft Room“.
In the video, Eagles GM Howie Roseman reveals that he called the Lions about them potentially moving back in round one and he was rejected.
The Eagles were looking to move up to land linebacker Jihaad Campbell, who had surprisingly slid through the first round of the draft.

The Eagles still ended up making a trade up to get their guy. That trade moved them up just one spot as they swapped places with the Kansas City Chiefs to ensure they landed Campbell.
The Lions used that 28th pick to select defensive tackle Tyleik Williams.
Since the draft, we have learned that the Lions had to hold on to that pick in order to land Williams as he revealed that the Bills were interested in him at pick 30 if he had fallen to them.
With that interest from the Bills and the potential of the trade to potentially help the team they’re chasing in the NFC, it’s no surprise the Lions decided to keep the 28th pick.
