The Minnesota Vikings re-signed cornerback Byron Murphy, Jr. this offseason. But would they have had a chance to ever get their hands on him if he had been drafted to a Super Bowl-winning team?
PFF did a 2019 NFL re-draft, selecting the players who should have been taken based on grades and data. Murphy, the 33rd overall pick and first pick of the second round by the Arizona Cardinals, made the jump into the first round in PFF’s draft.

In the re-draft, the Philadelphia Eagles take Murphy with the 25th overall pick. They originally traded with the Baltimore Ravens to move up to pick No. 22 to take tackle Andre Dillard. The pick never paid off, as Dillard started only nine of 43 games played in Philadelphia. The Ravens selected wide receiver Marquise Brown at 25.
The Eagles could’ve used reinforcements in their secondary, and Murphy profiles as just that. He enjoyed a breakout 2024 season, tallying six interceptions and finishing as one of the 15 most valuable cornerbacks in the league, according to PFF’s WAR metric.
Murphy signed with the Vikings in 2023. He signed a three-year, $66 million deal this past March to come back after initially hitting the free agent market this offseason. His six interceptions in 2024 tied for the third-most among all defenders.
