Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix is now answering for things his head coach said.
And all of this is fair game following Sean Payton’s national media tour earlier this week.
After a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, Nix got questioned about Payton thinking he can be a top-5 QB in the NFL soon.
The follow-ups didn’t stop there, with Bo Nix also getting asked about Payton’s declaration the Broncos can be a Super team this season. How does he feel about the being the goal?
“It should be your goal, too. We should all be wanting to go win a Super Bowl. If we’re not trying to win a Super Bowl, why are we here?” Nix asked.
It’s a good response back. For players, winning a championship is a feeling they won’t forget the rest of their lives.
For reporters, getting to cover a run to a title is memorable. And for fans, it’s the reason they watch sports in the first place.
“If you’re not trying to be the best of the best in your particular area, ours in the NFL, the National Football League, I believe that’s why you go out there and play the game,” Bo Nix said.
Basically, Nix is suggesting all people should strive to reach the top of their field. It’s not bad advice in athletics or in life.
However, Nix cautioned there’s plenty the Broncos still need to do to accomplish such a lofty goal like winning the Super Bowl.
“You go out there to beat the best and I feel good about our team. But, that’s not just thrown around, that’s not easy to do obviously and we’ve got a lot of work to go get that goal,” Nix said.
Payton did kind of throw it around in an interview with Yahoo! Sports, but he also wouldn’t have said it unless he truly believed it was possible.
And for what it’s worth, Bo Nix has similar aspirations, which are obviously the correct ones.
