By all accounts, the Tennessee Titans have brought in a solid class in the 2025 NFL draft. Not only were they able to address many of their perceived needs heading into the weekend, but they accomplished it without reaching. The Titans let the draft come to them and were successful.Â
With all the action on Day 3 of the draft, some prospects don’t receive the same focus as those taken earlier. This could be a massive mistake for the fans, as champions are built in the later rounds.Â
With one of their final selections in the draft, the Titans selected Cal cornerback Marcus Harris with the 183rd pick in the sixth round.Â
Harris is an experienced cornerback prospect who has played in 53 college games between Cal and Idaho. He may not be the most athletic cornerback in this class and does not have explosive traits, but he exemplifies being a football player.Â
At 5-foot-10 and 188 pounds, Harris is an elite run defender and exceptional tackler who, despite his size, will not shy away from contact. Despite a lack of measurables, he recorded 200 total tackles, eight interceptions, and three forced fumbles in his career.
Harris is best suited as a zone cornerback. His high football IQ, instincts, and physicality will allow him to be successful and play downhill.Â
Because of his physicality, he has all the traits necessary to become a special-teams standout early in his career while he refines his technique and carves out a niche in the NFL.
Harris was available late due to his lack of measurables, not his performance on the field. He has the potential to develop into a solid starting cornerback and significantly outperform his draft slot.Â
Tennessee is thin at the cornerback position after releasing Chidobe Awuzie earlier in the offseason. Harris should be able to work his way into a role much like Jarvis Brownlee did in 2024, and that will likely be his roadmap to success in Nashville.Â
