The Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers held an intense joint practice on Thursday, and tempers flared as they do in the heat of battle.
In the middle of the practice, a skirmish broke out between the Bucs offense and Titans defense, leading to both benches rushing the field. And although he wasn’t personally involved, rookie quarterback Cam Ward showed he had the defense’s back.

The young quarterback fired the football into the middle of the scrum as the two sides were being separated. After practice, Ward was asked about the incident and had an entertaining response.
“Yeah, I had a target. I was trying to hit one of them boys in red jerseys,” he said, “The team knows I have their back, and they’re going to have mine.”
While the altercation was nothing major, the fact that Ward’s first instinct was to help his teammate is a great example of why people want to play for Ward and why his teammates have such a positive opinion of the young signal caller.
While the coaching staff would advise Ward to stay clear, in the end, he is a football player first, and his emotions take over.
