EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Arizona Cardinals announced Thursday that they have re-signed former UTEP football offensive lineman Will Hernandez to a one-year contract.

Last season, Hernandez started the first five games at right guard before he suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the Cardinals’ Week 5 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

In a late July, Hernandez announced that he was officially cleared on X.

Despite the medical clearance, the Cardinals have placed him on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list—a precautionary move as he works his way back to full strength.

Originally a second-round pick by the New York Giants in 2018, Hernandez joined the Cardinals in 2022 and quickly became a key piece of the offensive line. Before his injury last season, he brought physicality and experience to Arizona’s interior blocking unit.

For Hernandez, a former UTEP standout, the new deal marks both a fresh opportunity and a vote of confidence from the organization as he aims to bounce back in 2025.
