One of the biggest storylines of NFL training camp has been the Cleveland Brown’s quarterback room. Shedeur Sanders is the biggest question mark in the room, as it’s not clear as to what kind of an opportunity he’s going to get within the organization after he slid to the fifth round in the 2025 NFL Draft and joined fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel in the quarterback room.

The Browns now have six quarterbacks in the room after they signed former Pro Bowler Tyler Huntley to the team to help combat with the minor injuries the other quarterbacks have suffered in camp. However, those injuries have put the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback in a prime position to make a statement on Friday night, as he is slated to start and play around 50 snaps if all goes to head coach Kevin Stefanski’s plan.

Back in Boulder, CU head coach Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders was excited for his son to get the nod in his first preseason game, and had a bold statement for the NFL regarding Shedeur.

“I can’t wait to see him play. It’s gonna be a problem out there tonight dawg, I promise you that,” Sanders said at CU Fall Sports Media Day on Friday.

It will be the first time since 2020 that Deion and Shedeur Sanders will not share a sideline with each other. That year was Shedeur’s senior year at Trinity Christian High School in Texas while it was Prime’s first year as the head coach at Jackson State.

“It’s going to be strange for both of us. I was in the hospital the last time I missed three games. He’s so prepared right now. A lot of people are approaching like a preseason game, he’s approaching it like a game. He’s thankful and appreciative for the opportunity,” Prime said.

The 57-year-old head coach also said that he and Shedeur had spoken three times in the morning ahead of the game. They won’t get to do their patented walk up and down the sideline that Buffs fans are so accustomed to seeing, but Prime and the rest of the Buffs fanbase will be watching their former star quarterback.

For Shedeur, he seems like his true self ahead of Friday night’s game — calm, cool and flexing the jewelry.

There’s no other quarterback in the league walking in with an entourage playing his own music for his first ever preseason game. That could be the reason why he slid in the draft, but if there’s one thing that’s for certain, it’s that he’s not going to change his ways.

Kickoff between the Browns and the Panthers is set for 5:00 p.m. MDT on Friday evening. The game will be broadcast on NFL Network.
