Will Edwards, son of 1998 Moeller grad and current Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line coach Matt Edwards, was in “critical but stable condition” in a Jacksonville hospital yesterday after being struck by a vehicle while riding his scooter earlier this week, according to Moeller Director of Alumni Barrett Cohen in an Instagram post.
“Please keep Man of Moeller Matt Edwards ’98 and his son will in your prayers today,” Cohen wrote in the post. “… We know the power of prayer within the Moeller family so we pray.”
Matt Edwards played linebacker and defensive end at Miami (Ohio) after graduating from Moeller, becoming a team captain for his senior season. After graduating from Miami in 2002, he started his coaching career as a linebackers coach at The College of Wooster.
He coached in college for more than a decade, spending time at Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Florida Atlantic and Tiffin before working as a defensive assistant and special teams assistant for the Tennessee Titans between 2018 and 2022. He spent two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders after that and another with the Buffalo Bills before the Jaguars hired him in February.
His entire Jacksonville unit came to the hospital to show support.
