The opening drive featured some Bengals starters, including quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. Facing a seasoned Bengals offense gave Eagles rookies a taste of the intensity of NFL competition.

Jihaad Campbell was among the young players competing for a starting role. Campbell entered the game for the second defensive series while some of the Bengals starters were still in the game. Campbell recorded three tackles in his debut and almost had an interception.

Campbell played inside linebacker in the first half. The Eagles are still evaluating his versatility and ability to play several positions to determine how he could be used, with the potential to become a starter.

Following the game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke highly on Campbell, “He’s growing, and he’s doing a good job. Obviously, he’s highly athletic and can do a lot of different things, and I see him getting better every day,” said Sirianni.

As of now, Campbell is listed as inside linebacker No. 2 behind Zack Baun. Campbell has also been training as a pash rusher during training camp. He and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. are in competition for a starting role. Stay tuned to Tide 100.9 for updates regarding former Alabama players in the NFL.
