The Dallas Cowboys are slowly but surely losing depth in the trenches.
During the start of training camp, the Cowboys lost left tackle Tyler Guyton to a knee injury. There were some concerns about him suffering an ACL injury, but the MRI results showed that it was just a bone fracture. It’s too early to tell if he’ll be able to suit up for Week 1, but Jerry Jones said the latest update the team received was promising.

The Cowboys also lost offensive guard Rob Jones to an injury during their first padded-practice of camp. It wasn’t until Aug. 8, however, that an update was issued by the team.
It turns out Jones suffered a broken bone in his neck. He has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.
This is a tough blow for Jones, who signed a one-year, $3.75 million contract with the Cowboys. He was expected to be the No. 2 option this season behind right guard Tyler Booker.

“Entering camp, Jones was one of six projected backups on the offensive line with starting experience. He has 30 career starts in his career, more than half coming last year with the Dolphins at right guard,” the Cowboys said in their press release.

With Jones out for the year, the Cowboys will need other offensive linemen like Brock Hoffman and T.J. Bass to step up in the preseason.
As for Jones’ roster spot, the Cowboys have decided to use it on running back Malik Davis.

Davis has experience in Dallas. He had 161 rushing yards and a touchdown on 38 carries during the 2022 season.
