NEW ORLEANS, La. (WLBT) – Head Coach Kellen Moore announced after Friday’s practice that Spencer Rattler will get the start in the preseason opener against the Chargers on Sunday.
Rattler, a second-year player who started six games for the Saints in 2024, will start the game, but second-round draft pick Tyler Shough, and third-year pro Jake Haener will also see action Sunday.
“We’ll start Spencer in the game and then then we’ll go, you know, from there we’ll go Tyler and then Jake. So all those guys will get in there, they’ll hop in there, it’ll be. It would be great rotation for those guys,” Coach Moore said.
“Super excited, you know, awesome opportunity, excited to get out there with the guys and you know, try to play some clean ball, try to score some points and have some fun with the guys out there,” Rattler said.
Rattler has received majority of the first team reps throughout training camp so far, giving him the slight edge heading into the first preseason game.
