Ted Karras, the Cincinnati Bengals‘ center known for anchoring the offensive line, is taking his commitment to the community from the field to the firehouse through his foundation’s recent partnership with the Cincinnati Fire Department.

On Aug. 2, Karras’ organization, The Cincy Hat Foundation, released a navy and red hat in support of The Cincinnati Fire Fighter Charitable Fund − a nonprofit founded and led by Cincinnati firefighters to support their own and their families after injuries sustained in the line of duty.

“We’re incredibly excited to launch the first-ever Cincinnati Fire Department Cincy Hat – a custom collaboration with the brave men and women of CFD!” he wrote via a The Cincy Hat’s Instagram post.

This hat will be an official part of the Cincinnati firefighter uniform throughout the month of September, Karras added in the post. Proceeds from every hat sold will benefit the nonprofit.

Karras’ nonprofit began as a grassroots fundraiser for the Village of Merici in 2016, and has quickly expanded into a Cincinnati sensation, collaborating with local programs focusing on bettering the community.

The company has seen over $2.5 million in hats sold, allowing for the continuation of several initiatives including the funding for full-ride scholarships for two incredible students through the University of Cincinnati’s TAP Program, a four-year college experience designed for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to the foundation’s website.
