On Monday, May 5, the Kansas City Chiefs signed linebacker Jeffrey Bassa and running back Brashard Smith to rookie contracts after selecting them in the 2025 NFL draft last month.

Bassa was Kansas City’s fifth-round pick and joins the Chiefs after an illustrious collegiate career at the University of Oregon.

Smith, a former Southern Methodist University Mustang, was selected by Kansas City in Round 7 and is a dynamic running back prospect who could make waves with the Chiefs as a rookie.

News of Kansas City’s latest signings was first reported by veteran NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston, Texas:

Wilson’s initial report didn’t indicate how much each player is set to be paid, though neither contract is expected to break the bank for Kansas City’s front office.

With Bassa and Smith officially under contract, the Chiefs will turn their attention to signing the rest of Kansas City’s rookie class in the coming weeks.
