Deon Bush will miss the entire 2025 NFL season after he tore his Achilles tendon against the Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has confirmed.
Saturday saw the Chiefs and Cardinals face off against each other in their preseason opener at State Farm Stadium, with Arizona coming out on top 20-17. Patrick Mahomes, who was recently named the fourth-highest rated quarterback in Madden 26 behind Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, played one series against the Cardinals, completing one pass on a one-yard touchdown throw to Jason Brownlee.
However, the Chiefs came away from the contest in Glendale worse for wear after it was announced Bush will miss the 2025 NFL season after he tore his Achilles against the Cardinals. It comes just a day after Detroit Lions defensive back, Morice Norris was rushed to hospital following a sickening collision with Atlanta Falcons running back Nathan Carter.

The 31-year-old has been with the Chiefs since 2022, helping them to two Super Bowl titles during his time in Kansas City.
Bush’s injury was a non-contact injury, which saw him fall to the turf after trying to change direction. He was consoled on the field by Reid and Mahomes before being carted off with a towel over his head.
Speaking after the game, Reid confirmed Bush had suffered a torn Achilles tendon.
“Deon was having a good [training] camp, too,” Reid said via ESPN. “He’s got to have surgery on it. It’s too bad because he’s been playing really well. He’s a good kid.”

The nine-year veteran recorded an interception during the second half of the 2023 AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens, picking off Jackson to help Kansas City back to the Super Bowl where they beat the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
The Chiefs also lost cornerback Jaylen Watson during the first quarter of the game against the Cardinals.
The 26-year-old, who missed 11 games last season with an ankle injury, was taken out of the game by Kansas City and placed in the concussion protocol, with the Chiefs later announcing he would miss the rest of the game.

Watson will now be required to follow a five-step protocol before he is able to practice, or participate in a game for the Chiefs.
With 2025 set to be the final year of his rookie contract, Watson will hope he can make a quick return to play so he can prove his worth to the Chiefs.
And with corner Kristian Fulton still working his way back from an offseason knee surgery, the Chiefs may look to bring in some defensive back help, especially with Bush now set to miss the 2025 season.
