Longhorns’ Arch Manning NFL Draft Future Announced by Grandpa Archie; Bad Browns News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

If there’s one position that the Cleveland Browns haven’t had any luck with for decades, it is the quarterback position.

Such is the franchise’s current predicament that Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders (oh, and suddenly, Snoop Huntley, too) are the signal-callers head coach Kevin Stefanski has to work with.

And we aren’t even mentioning Deshaun Watson.

That’s what makes the 2026 NFL Draft rather interesting, with the Browns expected to have a high pick. Which brings us to Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning and the potential that the Browns might be able to take the star.

We have written often that everything we hear out of Austin is that Arch plans to be more than just one-(starting season)-and-done … and now his legendary grandfather is echoing that.

“Arch isn’t going to do that (go to the 2026 NFL Draft). He’ll be at Texas (in 2026),” Archie Manning told Texas Monthly.

Now, things can change.

But Browns owner Jim Haslam was already planning on this outcome.

“If you know the Manning family — and I don’t know Arch at all — I’d bet he stays in college two years. I don’t think that’s worth discussing,” Haslam said recently.

The Browns haven’t had much luck with quarterbacks, and going by Haslam’s words, if they are interested in Arch, they’re going to have to wait a couple of years before he enters the draft.

And Cleveland would hope that in two years’ time, it won’t be in a position to draft Manning – the nephew of QB legends Peyton and Eli – because it would mean the poor seasons have continued.

So, it is full steam ahead with the Browns’ current crop of quarterbacks, headlined by Flacco, and it is going to be interesting to see how the depth chart shakes out over the coming weeks and who gets snaps in the preseason games.

Flacco appears to be the starter, but behind him, it is up for debate, with injuries contributing to the fact that fifth-round rookie Shedeur will start this weekend’s preseason opener at Carolina on Friday.

And any Browns’ connection with blue-chip prospect Arch Manning? It seems they, and the rest of a salivating NFL will have to wait.
