The New Orleans Saints don’t have any joint practices currently scheduled for this offseason, but one team is trying to change that.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Sunday that the team was trying to schedule a joint practice with the Saints for Thursday, and that it is likely to happen, per the Associated Press’ Greg Beacham. The Rams were originally scheduled to practice with the Los Angeles Chargers on that day, but that was cancelled.

It must have been a bit easier for the two parties to connect, given that McVay and New Orleans defensive coordinator Brandon Staley have a solid relationship from when they worked together in 2020.
The Saints are on a West Coast trip for more than just the minimum ahead of their preseason opener against the Chargers. It was a chance for Kellen Moore to get the team a new look and change of scenery. They’ll be practicing at UC-Irvine’s campus until Friday, Aug. 15 so don’t expect practice to open up for fans if the Saints are hosting.
While there were originally no joint practices scheduled, it would make sense to do at least one. The road trip is all about different environments, so they might as well take the chance to practice against different players. This is a rebuilding roster that should relish any opportunity to get different looks before the regular season begins.
