Falcons sign veterans Ronnie Harrison, Jake Hanson

  • August 10, 2025

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Atlanta Falcons have signed safety Ronnie Harrison Jr. and center Jake Hanson, the team announced Sunday.

In a corresponding move, the team released offensive lineman Michael Gonzalez and placed cornerback Grayland Arnold on the reserve/injured list.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the Harrison signing on Saturday.

Harrison, 28, was drafted in the third round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018 out of the University of Alabama. He spent two seasons with the Jaguars before a three-year stint with the Cleveland Browns. In 2023, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts and spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons there.

Harrison has played in 84 games (48 starts) across seven seasons, recording 245 tackles and 6.5 sacks. He also has seven interceptions, including two pick-sixes, and 25 pass breakups.

Hanson brings depth to the Falcons

Hanson comes to Atlanta after two seasons with the New York Jets, where he played in 12 games and started two in 2024. He took 103 offensive snaps and 45 special teams snaps last season.

The 28-year-old center adds depth to a group that primarily features starter Ryan Neuzil and backup Jovaughn Gwyn. Rookie Joshua Gray is listed as a reserve on the team’s unofficial depth chart.

These moves come days after Atlanta’s first preseason game against the Detroit Lions ended in frightening fashion when safety Morice Norris sustained a severe injury that required an ambulance.
