Quarterback Jake Haener played about the final five minutes of the game and was five of eight for 41 yards with an interception.

Running back Kendre Miller had six carries for 15 yards. Velus Jones led the team with four catches for 16 yards while Kevin Austin, Cedrick Wilson and Treyton Welch each had three catches. Kickers Blake Grupe and Charlie Smyth each made a field goal.

The Saints (0-1) had a number of players leave with injury: center Will Clapp (second offensive play), left guard Trevor Penning, wide receiver Bub Means, and tight end Mason Pline.

Khristian Boyd, Fadil Diggs and Chris Rumph each had sacks for the Saints defense.

The following players were not in uniform for the game: linebacker Demario Davis, defensive end Jasheen Davis, receiver Moochie Dixon, safety J.T. Gray, defensive end Cameron Jordan, running back Devin Neal (hamstring), receiver Chris Olave (ankle), cornerback Alontae Taylor, receiver Chris Tyree, and offensive lineman Landon Young.

The following players were in uniform but didn’t play: defensive tackle Davon Godchaux, defensive end Carl Granderson, running back Alvin Kamara, and defensive end Chase Young.

The Saints will practice at Cal-Irvine through Thursday before returning to New Orleans ahead of Sunday’s home preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The victory improved the Chargers to 2-0 in preseason.
