(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings opened N-F-L preseason play with a 20-10 home victory over the Houston Texans. Vikes quarterback J-J McCarthy played one series and led a 13-play drive that ended with a 48-yard field goal from Will Reichard. McCarthy was 4-for-7 for 30 yards on the drive. He also scrambled to a first down on a fourth down play. Former Gopher quarterback Max Brosmer played in the fourth quarter and fired a T-D strike to Myles Price. Brosmer was 5-for-8 for 47 yards on two series. Backup Q-B Sam Howell scored on a sneak and was 11-for-13 for 105 yards. Kahlef Hailassie had two interceptions for the Vikings defense, which allowed only 13 first downs all day. The Vikings will be back to practice on Monday and are looking ahead to joint practices with the New England Patriots on Wednesday and Thursday at T-C-O Performance Center. The Vikes and Pats will then play a preseason game on Saturday at U-S Bank Stadium at noon.
