Seattle Seahawks linebacker Tyrice Knight is currently sidelined. Head coach Mike Macdonald recently confirmed Knight is dealing with both a knee injury and medical issue. He’ll be out for multiple weeks, but could return for Week 1. In the meantime, the Seahawks’ depth at linebacker will be tested over the next few weeks.

With the Seahawks short on numbers at linebacker in Thursday’s preseason Week 1 tie with the Las Vegas Raiders, it was linebackers Drake Thomas (51) and D’Eryk Jackson (47) who did the heavy lifting snap-count wise. Elsewhere, linebackers Patrick O’Connell played 18 snaps, and Michael Dowell totaled 14 snaps. Starter Ernest Jones did not play.

Thomas struggled versus the Raiders, earning an overall defensive grade of 47.2 from Pro Football Focus. Jackson, a rookie UDFA out of Kentucky, scored a much better 65.1 from PFF. Thomas and Jackson both recorded two tackles apiece.

The Seahawks will conclude their preseason with upcoming games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. There’s also joint practice with the Packers. Knight will likely be sidelined for all three showcases. It’ll give Macdonald an opportunity to continue sorting through at his depth at linebacker, a position that currently looks thin on paper.
