Jelly Roll has hit a major milestone in his weight loss journey.

The country singer, born Jason DeFord, shared the news with the the Tennessee Titans when he dropped by to deliver a motivational speech before the team hits the road.

“I lost 200 pounds. I told coach I’m getting a contract if I lose another 50,” Jelly Roll said in a video of the speech that the NFL team posted on X. The players clapped in response.

“I ride for this team. I can’t get on the field,” he said, but he’s “close.”

Jelly Roll on what the Titans mean to Nashville

As a Tennessee native, Jelly Roll has been a lifelong Titans fan.

“I grew up right here in Nashville, Tennessee. I’m super proud of that,” he told the team, which is led by quarterback Cameron Ward and Coach Brian Callahan.

“Last year I came and spoke at the beginning of the season about how much the Titans have done for us locally,” he said. “This city needs help. It always has. The biggest acquisition we ever made as a city was the Tennessee Titans. It was the first time our city felt like a city. We were a town before the Titans came here.”

Jelly Roll talks to Titans players about life on the road

Before the team hits the road in two weeks, Jelly Roll decided to offer some pearls of wisdom about how life on the road can impact performance on the field — or stage.

“I think it was a good time to tell y’all I spent about 300 days a year not here,” he said. “Buses, trains, planes, automobile(s), walking, you name it we’ve done it. I learned early that’s where the magic was … see, what was happening on that road between me and the boys, started translating to the stage.

“We learned it was the 23 hours we wasn’t on the stage that we were building our connection,” Jelly Roll continued, telling the players that connecting with each other off the field would translate in their game.

“I started becoming a better songwriter when I started becoming a better husband,” he said. “I started becoming a better performer when I started becoming a better human.”

This dream date is behind Jelly Roll’s goal of losing weight

At the end of the talk, Jelly Roll mentioned the grind culture he’s seen as some of the team’s players have gotten in shape during off season or woken up at 4 a.m. to get to work.

“There’s a culture being built. I feel it. Double down on that culture.”

That’s when Jelly Roll opened up about his own personal progress in his goal to lose weight, a journey he announced in 2024.

In April, the “Need A Favor” singer told the audience at a Pittsburgh show he’s one step closer to a dream date with his wife.

“I started at 540 pounds I’m 357 pounds this morning, baby,” he said. “I’m going to lose another 100 pounds and go skydiving with my wife in Sweden, baby.”

Jelly Roll is currently on tour with Post Malone for their “Big A** Stadium Tour.”
