The Cleveland Browns just drafted two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. However, if they find themselves picking in the top part of the draft again this next Spring, the odds they take another quarterback are high.
That’s just what a new way-too-early mock draft has them doing. The Daft on Draft podcast did their first mock draft of the 2025 season, and they opted to leave Arch Manning out of the conversation despite the Browns’ interest due to the overwhelming evidence that he will not declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. So, with the Browns picking first overall, they sent South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers to Cleveland in this exercise instead.
The tools of Sellers are, without a doubt, tantalizing. He possesses a howitzer for an arm, legitimate ability to create explosive plays with his legs, and is legitimately one of the strongest quarterbacks to come out of college football in quite some time at 6-foot-3 and 242 pounds. His growth as a passer from the pocket has been increasingly positive over each start of his young career as well.
Daft on Draft has Sellers as their No. 2-ranked quarterback entering the season behind only Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, but took an upside shot in this mock draft to select the South Carolina product first, given his tools. Here is what they have to say on Sellers in their recent quarterback rankings article:
“Sellers is standing in as a pocket passer, and you can see his eyes working through passing progressions. His improvement in 2025 will accelerate that process and help him learn how to navigate murky pockets, rather than shying away from defenders while sitting at seven yards in depth from the line of scrimmage.
Now add in that he is perhaps one of the strongest quarterbacks we have seen since Andrew Luck, who can shrug off sack attempts down the barrel from even some of the best pass rushers in the country, like Clemson’s Peter Woods, Ole Miss’ (Now Carolina Panther) Princely Umanmielen, and more.
Now add in that he has an elite arm that can make every throw to every level to the field on a line. Then consider that he more than likely runs a 4.4 40-yard dash.
Sellers has the chance to be a rare prospect.”
