Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are back where he loves them to be, in the spotlight. Their new Netflix show, America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys premiers August 19. The streaming giant rolled out the blue carpet with the stars of yesteryear for a sneak peak at what is being described as the next Dallas hit.
Jones made a cameo appearance on the Paramount show, Landman, wherein the Cowboys owner delivered a moving speech that prompted some to joke about potential acting accolades during the team’s opening training camp press conference.
While the general public has to wait another week for it’s arrival, players such as Hall-of-Fame running back Emmitt Smith and wideout Michael Irvin were in attendance at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood for the premier.
Both players answered a variety of questions but couldn’t avoid commenting on the situation about pass rusher Micah Parsons. The series aims at nostalgic times in Dallas but Smith takes the reminiscing toward his own contract dispute with Jones.
Irvin on the other hand would just like a quick resolution so the Cowboys can concentrate on the task ahead.
“Now I just would appreciate it more if he’d just get that Micah Parsons deal done. That’s what I told him over here. I told everybody I’ll appreciate Jerry more if he gets Micah Parsons’ deal done. Imm let that go right there.” – Michael Irvin
The stars weren’t the only former Cowboys in attendance. Safety James Washington, who played for Dallas from 1990 through 1994, was asked about the team’s lack of postseason success since their playing days in the early-to-mid 90’s.
Making headlines has never been an issue for Jones and his Cowboys. His contributions to the game are a big reason why he is in the Hall-of-Fame and the show will certainly highlight the risks involved with purchasing the team.
Against the urging of Netflix staffers due to time constraints, Jones took a moment to meet with local media aware of how important they are to his success.
They say the stars shine brighter in Texas. Love or hate them, everyone will soon get a chance to see why the Cowboys are America’s Team.
