The Kansas City Chiefs signed former Washington Commanders running back Michael Wiley on August 12, just days before their tilt against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL preseason.
Wiley, a former University of Arizona Wildcat, spent the 2024 season on Washington’s practice squad after entering the league as an undrafted free agent.

In his five seasons as a collegian (all at Arizona), Wiley racked up 1,712 rushing yards on 336 attempts, 1,150 receiving yards on 123 receptions, and scored a total of 28 touchdowns (16 rushing, 12 receiving).
Wiley’s signing was announced in a post to Twitter by Chiefs Senior Team Reporter Matt McMullen:
While Wiley’s late arrival to Kansas City doesn’t bode well for his chances of cracking the Chiefs’ 53-man roster, he may be able to make enough of an impression on coaches to earn a spot on the team’s practice squad this season.
