After a historic 2024 campaign that saw Jackson State Football bring home its first HBCU National Championship, a few Tigers are putting the national media on notice. The Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) announced the 2025 Watch List for the Black College Football Player of the Year Award on Tuesday, with Jackson State leading the way with six players on the list.Jackson State is represented on the list by:- Joanes Fortilien, wide receiver- Marvin Landy, tight end – JaCobian Morgan, quarterback – Nate Rembert, wide receiver- Shemar Savage, wide receiver- D’Andre Townes-Blue, offensive linemanThe Watch List is composed of 50 players from different HBCUs, with the SWAC leading the way with 18 selections. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding football player from a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and has been presented since 2016.Four finalists will be unveiled after the season. The winner of the Black College Football Player of the Year Award, which will be announced during halftime of the 2026 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl, will be presented with the Deacon Jones Trophy.
