The Tennessee Titans faced off with the Atlanta Falcons in a joint training camp practice on Tuesday, kicking off their second week away from Nashville on this road trip.Â
Reports out of the Falcons’ facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia, reveal that the Titans were sluggish and started the session slowly, warming up into the action. While some of the Titans flashed in practice, the Falcons won the day.Â
Tennessee will have a chance to bounce back and put on a better showing on Wednesday when the two teams hook up again for a second joint session. This should give head coach Brian Callahan plenty of coachable moments to build upon as they head into their preseason game against the Falcons on Friday.Â
Here are the takeaways from Tuesday’s joint practice.Â
Low-energy returns
Early in training camp, media members noted that the Titans’ practices seemed to lack energy and intensity. Those same reports resurfaced today during the joint practice with the Falcons and were even mentioned by Titans’ players after practice.
Jeffery Simmons and Jarvis Brownlee both touched on the issue, and see eerie resemblances to the slow starts that plagued the Titans in 2024. This is something the team must address before the regular season starts.Â
No answer for London
The Titans’ defense struggled to contain the Falcons wide receiver Drake London during practice, and must find a way to limit wide receiver production moving forward.Â
London is a big, dynamic weapon on the outside and a matchup problem for every team, but the Titans also struggled against Tampa Bay in the preseason opener, holding wide receivers in check early in the game, and it appears they still haven’t found an answer.
Simmons flashes
Jeffery Simmons had an outstanding day and was one of the most active members of the Titans throughout the practice. He was even singled out by the Falcons’ media members as a problem for their offensive line.
It’s a great sign for the Titans’ defense that will likely only be visible during these joint practices. Simmons sat out the preseason opener against Tampa Bay and will most likely be a healthy scratch on Friday.    Â
Cushenberry returns
For the first time since tearing his Achilles tendon, center Lloyd Cushenberry returned to the practice field. While he is being eased back into action, his presence is significant.Â
The Titans’ offensive line has looked much improved throughout training camp, and the sooner he can get back into the lineup, the faster they can gel. Corey Levin has been solid, but Cushenberry is the starter when healthy.Â
Injuries
Quarterback Brandon Allen had to leave the field to receive some stitches early in the practice. He returned after a short absence and made some plays during team drills.Â
Matt Landers and Jaylen Harrell will not practice for #Titans. Others will be limited.

Edge Jaylen Harrell and wide receiver Matt Landers did not practice on Tuesday. Harrell left the game against the Bucs, and his status was not given. Landers was present but was sidelined, wearing a walking boot.Â
As expected, Tyjae Spears and T’Vondre Sweat did not practice against the Falcons.Â
