With just over four months until the start of the 2025 NFL Season, the pressure is on for all 32 teams. The Miami Dolphins still have some issues to address even after the 2025 NFL Draft.

After addressing the defensive and offensive lines in the first and second rounds, the Dolphins didn’t make a pick until the fifth round, when they drafted Florida cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. with the No. 150 pick.

This does not address the Dolphins’ serious secondary issues, including the dilemma with five-time Pro-Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The two sides anticipate that the relationship will end with a trade.

Miami needs to find a reliable starter to replace Ramsey in the upcoming season, and they failed to accomplish this in the draft. The next best option is to either find a trace partner or find remaining free agents.

One free agent the Dolphins should inquire about is Mike Hilton, who spent the last four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hilton accounted for 73 total tackles, 50 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and five pass breakups in 16 games last season. At 31 years old, Hilton is one of the more reliable cornerbacks in the league, with Pro Football Focus giving him an overall grade of 75.9 and a coverage grade of 68.5 last season.

There have been questions about workload, demands, and contract expectations. The Dolphins don’t have the luxury to challenge a cornerback of Hilton’s caliber, especially with the position still being a huge need in May.

Miami currently has just over $16 million in salary cap space. They can get a more available salary cap by trading Ramsey to a playoff-caliber team. The Dolphins don’t have the leverage to get high value in a potential trade. At this point, the goal should be to relieve themselves of the expensive contract.

If they do, the Dolphins can go for some high-caliber remaining free agents, starting with Hiton.
