The New England Patriots may have found a foundational piece along their offensive line in the 2025 NFL draft. The Patriots drafted Georgia Bulldogs center Jared Wilson with the No. 95 pick (third-round) in the draft.
Wilson appears to have a different role in the New England. He is already getting first-team reps with the Patriots’ offensive line, which struggled a season ago. Wilson’s athleticism and pass protection ability should help the Patriots do a better job of protecting second-year quarterback Drake Maye.

Wilson is competing with former first-round pick Cole Strange for a starting guard spot. He’s already impressed his coaches and teammates. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox thinks that Wilson is already looking like an NFL draft steal.
New England drafted LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell in the first round, but Jared Wilson could also end up as a starter.
“Jared Wilson has been a pleasant surprise for New England,” said Knox. “He was listed as a third-string center on the team’s first unofficial depth chart. However, he’s impressed enough in camp to challenge for a starting job (at right guard).”
The Patriots have two preseason games left before their Sept. 7 regular season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.
