OXNARD, Calif. — Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons didn’t have much to say about his trade request as he came off the practice field on Wednesday.

Asked by The Dallas Morning News if teams reached out to the Cowboys about potential trades, Parsons said, “my mouth closed.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he doesn’t expect contract talks to increase with Parsons’ agent when the team breaks camp on Thursday.

“I don’t know if necessary talks will but we’ve got a game coming and he’s under contract,” Jones said.

The Cowboys owner didn’t have a clear answer as to why talks haven’t restarted with his lead negotiators and Parsons’ agent.

“Again, really nothing,” Jones said on what’s preventing talks from occurring. Jones also indicated he’s under no deadline to get a deal done. Jones repeatedly said Parsons is under contract.

“All you got to go on are contracts and we are negotiating for a contract,” Jones said. “When you do a contract you would hope after a negotiation that’s what both the team and the player look to see what the obligations are. So I have a lot of respect for a contract.”

Parsons is conducting a hold-in during training camp practices and has undergone treatment for back tightness. Cowboys officials, from coach Brian Schottenheimer to Jones, have been positive about Parsons participation.

“Again, I’m glad he’s been here,” Jones said. “It’s important for the team, teammates, but it’s important for him to pick up all of the coaching and nuances and osmosis is a very big thing, and he’s been handling that part of it.”
