Atlanta Falcons cornerback Cobee Bryant can’t seem to catch a break. The highly coveted undrafted free agent out of Kansas began camp on the non-football injury list. While Bryant was activated the following week, he is now set to miss more time due to a hamstring injury.
Head coach Raheem Morris addressed the injury prior to Wednesday’s rowdy joint practice with the Tennessee Titans.
“It’s a hamstring so he was out,” Morris said of Bryant’s injury. “He got it the other day… Don’t know how significant that is. I think he’s kind of like on a week-to-week basis. It’s a shame too because he’s really been coming along and doing some really good things.”
Bryant’s play-making ability made him one of the most sought-after free agents following the 2025 NFL draft. Despite his immense upside, undrafted free agents need all the reps they can get. With his “week-to-week” injury designation, it seems likely that Bryant will miss the next two preseason games.
Several other Falcons missed Wednesday’s practice, including wide receiver Darnell Mooney and defensive lineman Ta’Quon Graham.
A fight broke out during the team’s joint practice with the Titans. After Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. completed a deep pass to wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, the teams got into it.
Things intensified as Penix was pushed to the ground. The second year quarterback wasn’t quite sure what happened, but he said things had gotten chippy between the two teams leading up to his throw to McCloud.
“I gave them my words, and probably went a little too far,” Penix said following Wednesday’s practice. “I was somebody else. I don’t even remember.”
The Falcons’ final open practice is officially in the books. The team will face off against Tennessee at home this Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
