Slightly drier air across Texas on Friday should keep shower activity confined to coastal regions with hot and humid conditions elsewhere across the state. A quickly developing tropical system in the Bay of Campeche is expected to move northwestward with deep tropical moisture arriving in South Texas by Friday evening. The system will deliver potentially heavy rain across south Texas, spreading into central parts of the state by Saturday.

1. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones reveals cancer diagnosis and credits experimental drug

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones credited an experimental trial drug for successfully treating advanced melanoma as he disclosed his cancer diagnosis publicly for the first time.

Jones revealed his illness in a documentary series, “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys,” which will debut on Netflix next week. 

2. House Democrats say what comes next in this quorum break is up to Gov. Greg Abbott

Democrats in the Texas House will not be returning.

Without a quorum, the special session will end on Friday, and Gov. Greg Abbott plans to call a second special legislative session. What happens next is entirely up to Abbott, according to Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Gene Wu.

3. Jury finds Texas couple guilty of concealing and harboring bakery workers in the U.S. illegally

Two South Texas bakery owners are guilty of concealing and harboring employees in the U.S. illegally, a jury found Wednesday afternoon following a trial that only lasted three days.

Look what you made her do — Taylor Swift has announced her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”

It will arrive Oct. 3. Swift, Max Martin and Shellback are the credited producers, which includes a notable absence of her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff.
