On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers held a joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ahead of their preseason game this weekend. The team forces those in attendance to stay tight-lipped about anything that happens. In fact, reporters can only report on what they see at practice if it is confirmed directly by a player or coach.

“We just didn’t come out with energy,” Echols said. “We came out a little flat. Flatter than usual. So we just have to fix that. come out stronger.”
While we appreciate Echols’ candor, he said something seriously worrying that you might have missed. Not only did Echols say the defense came out flat, he said “flatter than usual,” which would imply he is accustomed to the defense coming out flat, but today was special.
