The Mountain West will add public player availability reporting for conference games for the 2025 football season, the league announced Friday.
The league said its availability reporting policy standardizes the submission of student-athlete availability information for football contests to protect student-athlete privacy, reduce outside pressure on student-athletes for inside information, ensure transparency and promote competitive integrity. This policy also addresses public confidence in fair play and the integrity risks associated with sports wagering, the league said.
Required availability reporting will be woven into the conference’s established sports wagering integrity and compliance partnership with IC360, a specialist in comprehensive integrity and compliance solutions for sports, sports betting, gaming and iGaming.
The policy will apply to all regular-season conference games. Two days prior to each MW football game, each league program will identify players who are questionable or out. Three hours prior to each game, schools will update their designations. Reports will include only players’ names and participation status and may not include injury details.
Institutions are not required to submit availability reports for nonconference games but may choose to do so. The availability reports will be posted publicly on TheMW.com.
The MW joins other conferences that have announced similar moves with the Big Ten doing so in 2023, the SEC in 2024 and the ACC in 2025. While other leagues have included baseball and baseball among the sports required to comply with the player-availability reporting, the MW thus far has only included football.
