Houston METRO providing additional routes for Texans game days

  • August 15, 2025

Fans heading to NRG Stadium for the Houston Texans games will have easier access to the game thanks to enhanced METRO service.

METRO is increasing the frequency of Red Line rail trains as part of a Special Event Service designed to handle higher ridership on Texans’ game days.

The increased frequency is expected to run through the 2025-26 NFL regular season.

The added service aims to make travel smoother and more convenient for football fans, with METRO staff monitoring operations in real time and making adjustments throughout the day to keep trains running efficiently.

Fans driving to NRG can take advantage of $25 event parking at the Fannin South Transit Center, located at 1604 West Bellfort Ave.

The $25 flat fee — which is payable by card only — includes a round-trip METRORail wristband for every passenger in your car.

From there, it’s just one stop on the Red Line to Stadium Park/Astrodome station. The $25 rate applies to all vehicles parked at the transit center during home game days, regardless of whether occupants are attending the event.

For those taking the bus, three local METRO routes stop within walking distance of NRG Park: 14 Hiram Clarke, 60 Cambridge, and 84 Buffalo Speedway. These routes provide another reliable transportation option with convenient drop-off points near the stadium.

Whether heading to the stadium to cheer on the Texans or making the trip home after the game, METRO says its Special Event Service offers a stress-free alternative to battling traffic and paying for stadium parking.
