The Jacksonville Jaguars wrapped up Day 16 of training camp with their final practice prior to Sunday’s Week 2 preseason matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

After Thursday’s scrimmage, today’s practice was much lighter, but nonetheless, we have our three takeaways from what took place.

Travis Hunter sits out

Travis Hunter did not practice on Friday with what Liam Coen called an upper-body injury. Coen added that holding Hunter out of practice was precautionary.

Hunter was off to the side with a call sheet, getting mental reps.

Whether or not Hunter plays on Sunday in the preseason game is still to be determined.

Hunter played both ways during the Jaguars‘ scrimmage on Thursday, seeing 33 total snaps in the 11-on-11 periods with 17 on offense and 16 on defense.

Arik Armstead returns in a limited capacity

Arik Armstead is yet to practice in training camp as he continues to work through a back injury. However, he was on the practice field going through the stretch period and then worked off to the side with Maason Smith.

After missing time, there is going to be a ramp-up period for Armstead before he’s fully back in the team portion of practice. What that timeline looks like is not known.

With the Jaguars in need of improved play from the defensive tackle position this season, Armstead moving back inside and providing that boost was a key part of the equation in an offseason where no significant outside additions were made.

Liam Coen still has to determine if the starters will play vs. the Saints

After Friday’s practice, Coen was asked about whether the starters will play against the Saints, and it sounds like that decision will come down to the overall health of the roster.

“We gotta go get this injury report because I don’t want to do too many ‘you’re playing, you’re not playing,’ that kind of deal,” Coen said after Friday’s practice. “So we need to make sure that if we are putting Trevor–we need to make sure we’re protected and we have the right guys in front, and the same with the runners, things like that. Just making sure we’re not putting people in vulnerable spots because we are injured.”

Chuma Edoga, Anton Harrison, and Tyson Campbell were among those working off to the side during Friday’s practice.
