In an offseason that was full of change for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ one of the biggest moves made by GM James Gladstone was releasing wide receiver Gabe Davis.
Davis signed a three-year, $39 million deal, which included $24 million guaranteed during the 2024 offseason. By releasing Davis, the Jaguars take on a dead cap hit of $20.3 million.

By designating Davis as a post-June 1st release, the Jaguars will take on a dead cap hit of $5.7 million in 2025 and $14.6 million in 2026.
On a recent appearance on ‘Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast,’ Davis discussed his stint with the Jaguars and what went wrong.
“I had torn my PCL meniscus. I had torn it the 17th game in 2023 in Buffalo. And then signed with Jacksonville and [explicit] never got back right,” Davis said, via Jaguars on SI.
Davis’ 2024 season with the Jaguars ended due to injury after just 10 games. A big play threat with Buffalo, Davis averaged just 12.0 yards per catch in Jacksonville, catching 20-of-42 passes for 239 yards.

“So I was just running like Week 10 and just took a cut and then felt a pop in my knee and went to go try to walk to the sideline,” Davis said.
Davis is still an unsigned free agent.
