The Raiders played the Seattle Seahawks to a 23-23 tie in Week 1 of the preseason, which marked Raiders coach Pete Carroll’s first trip to Seattle as an opposing coach. Starting quarterback Geno Smith saw limited time in that contest, while Aidan O’Connell and Cam Miller got the majority of reps at the position. The Raiders trailed 16-3 at the half, but took over in the fourth quarter and tied the game at 23-23 on kicker Daniel Carlson’s second 50-plus yard field goal in the game’s final 15 minutes.

The 49ers were beaten in their preseason opener by a Jarrett Stidham-led Denver Broncos attack that scored the final 30 points of a 30-9 victory. Patrick Taylor Jr. scored San Francisco’s only touchdown on a five-yard run on the team’s opening drive, and the defense scored late in the first quarter on an intentional grounding call on Broncos quarterback Bo Nix. It was all Denver after that, as Stidham completed 14 of 15 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns and the 49ers’ quarterbacks combined to complete just 13 of 27 attempts for 107 yards and three interceptions.
