Is Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud playing in Saturday’s showdown against the Carolina Panthers?
During warmups at NRG Stadium, the Pro Bowl passer was dressed out and running drills with the first-team offense. He connected on several passes, including a vertical route to Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins.

Last week, the Texans conducted a joint practice with Carolina, allowing Stroud to go up against live competition for the first time in training camp. He impressed at times, throwing a pair of touchdown passes to Collins and fellow veteran receiver Christian Kirk. He also threw a red zone interception to Mike Jackson.
With starters dressing, it does seem like Stroud will see some action on Saturday. How much? Probably less than two drives, but enough to ger comfortable for real reps in the regular season.
The Texans kick off at noon. They will travel to Ford Field next week for a joint practice with the Detroit Lions before their final preseason game on Saturday.
